How to merge PDFs on an Android phone

Android doesn't include a built-in way to combine PDFs from the Files app. Installing a dedicated app for a one-off task is overkill, and many of those apps upload your files to a server to do the merging.

Why use Chrome instead of an app

A browser-based merge tool skips the install and the permissions prompt entirely. Since the merge happens with JavaScript running on the page itself, there's no separate app storing or transmitting your files.

Steps on Android

  1. Open Chrome and go to the Merge PDF tool.
  2. Tap the upload area and choose the PDFs from your device storage or Google Drive/Downloads.
  3. Select every file you want combined.
  4. Drag the thumbnails into the order you want.
  5. Tap Merge, then save the result to your device or share it directly.

Where the download goes

Android typically saves browser downloads to the Downloads folder, accessible from the Files app. From there you can move it, rename it, or share it directly to another app.
