How to rotate a PDF page on an iPhone

The Files app on iPhone can preview a PDF but doesn't offer a simple way to permanently rotate and re-save a specific page. Doing it in Safari is quicker than finding and installing a dedicated app.

Steps on iPhone

  1. Open Safari and go to the Rotate PDF tool.
  2. Tap the upload area and choose your PDF from Files or iCloud Drive.
  3. Tap the sideways or upside-down page's thumbnail to rotate it into place.
  4. Tap to save, then choose where to keep the corrected file from the share sheet or download prompt.

Why this beats rotating the view in a PDF viewer app

Many PDF viewer apps let you rotate the on-screen view temporarily, but that doesn't change the file itself — reopening it later shows the same sideways page again. This tool saves the rotation permanently into a new file.

Frequently asked questions

Does this actually save the rotation, or just change how it looks temporarily?+

It saves permanently — the download is a new file with the rotation written into the page data itself.

Does this work on iPad too?+

Yes, the same steps work in Safari on iPad.
